A Legacy of Trust Since Three Generations
Merrymade is a third-generation family enterprise from Thrissur, Kerala, with deep roots in agriculture, trading, and retail, now focused on curated food products including spices, dry fruits, healthy diets, and indulgent treats. Grounded in strong values of integrity, innovation, and customer trust, the brand carries forward a legacy built over six decades.
Legacy since 1962
The group’s journey began in 1962 in Madakkathara, a village in Thrissur district, Kerala, when the founder, Late Mr. Kottarathil Mani Daniel (KMD), started with grocery store later on changed to sourcing tapioca from local farmers and own cultivation, drying it, and supplying in bulk to starchbased industries.
This pioneering effort supported diverse sectors such as food processing, adhesives, textiles, and packaging by leveraging tapioca as an industrial input rather than viewing it only as a cooking ingredient.
As market conditions changed due to political issues and a decline in tapioca prices, the business pivoted into trading spices such as black pepper and nutmeg, as well as rubber plantation and sheet trading. The family heritage traces back to Malankara Syrian Christian ancestors who migrated from Central Travancore, bringing with them a tradition of enterprise, resilience, and community-centric values.
What Merry Made Stands For
Merrymade thus represents a continuum—from fields of tapioca & Kerala spices to modern food retail shelves—celebrating a family legacy while embracing future possibilities in every pack.
